Reviews
We decided to give this brunch place a try since it’s few blocks from our place and we had a great experience here. My husband ordered breakfast burritos and I got Italian crepe which is savory crepe with Italian sausages with generous amount of cheeses and veggies. I really love their dishes were healthy and not overly salty which is the case for many restaurants. Mine was full of flavors and portion was so large that I took the leftover to go to have it next day .
My kid got chicken tenders and they were delicious.
I am so glad that I’ve found a great brunch place in west Portal and can’t wait to try some sweet crepes next time !
I wish I had known that the simpler items were not worth the price... I thought that the Triple Gobble (pancakes, two thin slices of bacon, and two eggs) were going to be a big portion like the rest of the menu considering it was $17 and over $20 after tax and tip. Once I got my meal I was like oh... this looks barely filling. It didn't taste bad but it didn't leave me with a good feeling that I got a well-worth meal. Could they make the portions or price a bit more reasonable...? The wait staff were also too busy to bat an eye at you. Nothing was special.
Our waitress was patient and friendly with us, we came fairly early, almost right after opening.
Great portions, great flavor. This was a great food options. We stopped in for breakfast. This place is close enough to San Bruno to make the trip worthwhile.
We had a couple omelette's and a crepe. Every thing was delicious. One of the omelette options was with house potatoes and the other with a side salad. The crepe was full of flavors and came with an ice cream scoop on the side.
I went to the one on West Portal and I did a custom crepe with tomato, spinach and pepper jack it was delicious. I expected the atmosphere to be a lot warmer.
They simply cannot cook eggs. I ordered eggs over medium, and they came out with both the white and yolk runny and the edges crispy. I asked them to redo it, and they came back runny again with the edges extra crispy. I didn't want to argue with the server over how to cook eggs, so I just left, leaving my $18 egg dish + pre-paid tip behind and went across the street to the Bullshead. (Damn! The Bullshead makes an excellent burger!). You lost my future business, Squat & Gobble. I will direct others elsewhere, too. (Note: Eggs cooked over medium means the yolk is just set so it's still soft and custard-like with a slight ooze; they're also not hard and rubbery like eggs cooked hard.)
Tasty Bourbon Street omelet & 1 pancake. I drank water, because I'm on a diet. The waitstaff were friendly and helpful. 6/19/20: Mexican salad & french onion soup. Both very good. 2/16/21: i ordered delivery from here. The French onion soup was great, like always. The Beyond Beef tacos tasted like beef & were fresh. The 🍟 were Crispy, how I like them. Great lunch! 3/23/21: Tasty breckie 🌯 burrito. Very filling! Good 🥞 pancake.
